Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is the story of the spirited Cassie Logan and her brothers, the children of sharecroppers in the rural South. Their Mama & Papa have taught them that “Everybody born on this earth is something, and nobody, no matter what color, is better than anybody else…What we do have is some choice over what we make of our lives once we're here.” The white folks, however, intend to put the Logans in their “proper place” using any means possible, including the nocturnal raids of the Night Men.

While spending Passover with her grandparents, Hannah symbolically opens the door for the prophet Elijah. She suddenly finds herself in a Polish shtetl in the 1940s, the only one aware of what the invading Nazis really mean by "relocating" the Jews. Can she help spare her family in time, from the horrors of the death camps? Will she survive to find her loved ones in her own time again?
